If you want long thick and beautiful hair stay away from commercial hair products! They contain chemicals that are poisonous to say the least and will eventually cause your hair to fall out, give you an itchy scalp, dandruff and cause your hair to thin!

You need all natural shampoos and conditioners to grow long hair, these will take a while to get use to but they will minimize hair loss and give you longer thicker and more manageable hair. A good chemical free shampoo is made by taking a cup of baking soda mixed with a cup of water diluted with 4 teaspoons of apple cider. Make into a paste and then scrub your hair and scalp as you would with a regular shampoo. It may take time for your hair to adjust to this shampoo so your hair may appear to be “dirty” as the body gains back its natural levels of sebum.

Do not use any styling products that continue chemicals and you also want to avoid heat on your scalp, bathing with hot water is a definite no when it comes to growing hair the natural way as it will open your pores on your scalp and allow your hair to fall out faster. So use Luke warm water when washing your hair and scalp…

Be sure to supplement your diet with a Vitamin B12 which is great for preventing hair from falling and will also promotes nail growth. Taking vitamin A will also keep your hair stronger and healthier so it grows faster and longer.

A good oil to use on your hair to prevent hair thinning and loss is Lavender oil which has been shown in many hair loss studies to increase the rate of hair growth. So be sure to use lavender oil and massage the oil once a week. A better remedy would be to use good hair oil, apply to your scalp twice a week and you will never have problems when it comes to your hair and scalp.

Using good hair oil like Mira hair oil is a good herbal hair treatment that will grow your hair faster and stop any hair loss
As a man you should be sure to use it always to prevent damage to your hair, use it at twice a week and you will always have healthy hair, a bottle will last you 2 months. Again be sure to use gels and commercial hair products sparingly, the less the better as they contain chemicals that will strip you hair of its sebum which may cause hair loss.

300px Lemon edit1 Why is a gentle, natural shampoo better for me?

Image via Wikipedia

Most of the shampoo you find in your local grocery stall, even those labelled to be natural and gentle, may be fooling you. Many of these commercial shampoo formulations contain harsh ingredients, oils and alcohols that leave harmful deposits on your hair. With regular use, these products might dryness, lifeless and unmanageable hair. Say hello to bad hair days.

As you study the list of the ingredients used on a particular shampoo, you might be surprised to find one of more of the harmful synthetic ingredients that were found to have minor to serious side-effects. Ingredients like Sodium Lauryl Sulfate is one of the most widely used shampoo ingredient that was found to increase the risks of cataracts and other eye problems to children and adults as well as disruptions to endocrine functions. Ammonium Lauryl Sulfate, Mureth Sulfate, Olefin Sulfonate, Parabens, Propylene Glycol and other derivatives of Lauryl Alcohol are ingredients that were seen to have carcinogenic properties. Pthalates are commonly used in forms of synthetic fragrances, an ingredient that is not only toxic but also unnecessary. Enthanolamines are among the more risky ingredients as they are easily absorbed into the skin, causing liver and kidney damage. The long-term effects of regular exposure to these ingredients are not only potentially harmful to your hair but also to your well-being.

Thankfully, there are gentler and more natural alternatives to commercial shampoo formulations. There are shampoos made from natural and organic ingredients, providing you with safe and chemical-free solutions to maintaining healthy and bouncy hair. Ingredients such as tea tree oil, vitamin E, soy protein, rock salt, citric acid, coconut oil, olive oil, aloe vera, shea butter and other herbal extracts are the common ingredients used in making gentle and natural shampoos. Others may use unfamiliar ingredients like ylang ylang to deliver more hair nourishing and gentle cleansing benefits. Natural shampoo formulations are not only gentle on the hair and skin; they also bring longer lasting and much wilder shampoo scents.

Gentle and natural shampoo formulations are much better to use thank chemical laden shampoos. Because they are made from natural and organic ingredients, they will never dry out your hair and scalp. They effectively cleanses without stripping your hair with its natural protective oils. They also do not leave harmful residue that might block or clog skin pores or hair follicles. Lastly, the use of natural oils, scents and cleansing ingredients will never cause harmful side-effects and allergic reactions, making them great for use on people with sensitive skin types.

There are many reasons why gentler and natural shampoo is better to use. But the only thing that makes sense is that it promotes overall healthy hair. In relieving you of constantly using and applying toxic chemicals just to clean and add lustre to your hair, natural and gentler shampoo products justify their extra costs by delivering worry-free and chemical-free hair grooming benefits to naturally improving dry, frayed and frizzy hair. With this shampoo, bad hair days will be a thing of the past.

However, when you are to buy gentle and natural shampoo, you need to make sure that the product is authentically made from natural and chemical-free ingredients. There are popular shampoo brands uses the terms "natural" and "organic" on their labels just to gain marketing leverage. To be assured of the authenticity of natural shampoo products, buy only from trusted and certified retailers.

From years of experience as a stylist of natural hair, I have discovered that natural hair thrives best and remains more moisturized and manageable when natural products are used on the tresses and scalp. Of course, you may be confused about where to start. There are so many companies claiming to be “natural” or placing key phrases like olive oil, jojoba, shea, aloe, honey, and tea tree on their bottles that it is hard to not be seduced by all the minutia. Well, have no fear, I have some simple tips and a great product that is all natural and proven to work wonders on ethnic natural hair.

When first going natural, my clients often complained about their hair texture, softness, and manageability. They often encountered frizziness, dryness, flyaways, and dullness. How can you combat this? Moisture. Moisture. Moisture, Moisturize the ends of your hair and scalp 2-3 times a days with light natural oils. Olive and jojoba oil are fabulous for thirsty ends and scalps. But, make sure you get the pure stuff. Only use cold pressed, extra virgin olive oil and cold pressed jojoba oil, as they contain the most nutrients.

Finding a high quality, detangling shampoo and conditioner can also be tough. What should you do? Only use natural shampoos. You can either make your own or purchase one. Often, natural hair stylists recommended washing natural hair with conditioners to avoid placing hair-drying sulfates on the hair. However, you have to worry about more than sulfates damaging or drying your hair when using traditional conditioners—parabens, silicones, alcohols, glycols, and phosphates also pack a powerful punch to natural hair. Your best bet is to purchase a completely all natural product, such as Beauty 4 Ashes GodHead® Silky Smooth ® for Ethnic Hair or Hair Organix ® Systems for Ethnic Hair. For the past year, I have used the Silky Smooth shampoo and conditioner on my natural clients’ hair and noticed tremendous results. Because the shampoo and conditioner contain natural oils such as shea, jojoba, wheat germ, coconut, and avocado, natural hair, even hair that is kinky or more coarse, is left separated and soft. It uncoils tight curls while still giving the hair body and texture. It also makes the hair hang slightly longer. This is a benefit, especially when I set my natural clients hair. Although Beauty 4 Ashes ® makes products specifically for salons, you can also find many of their products on their website, wwwdiscoverb4acom.

You may be thinking that all this information is fabulous, but how can I style my hair from home. There is hope. You can create nice, professional styles by simply parting your hair into 12 even sections and twisting each of those sections. Leave the twists in overnight and loose them in the morning. You will wake up to a nice, full, wavy head of hair. There are also many sites devoted to providing hair styles for natural heads. So, don’t be dismayed. Your life is not over. Your hair is still fabulous and now you can moisturize it, shampoo it, condition it, and style it, without using chemicals whatsoever.

Is there any better feeling than coming out of the shower with really clean, fresh hair?

Image via Wikipedia

Yes! There is actually a better feeling than stepping out of the shower and feeling clean and refreshed. It is knowing that you use personal care products that leave you clean and beautiful without contributing the ever existing pollution in the planet.

All natural shampoos are making it big in the global market. Shampoos using organic and natural ingredients for their formula have created safe and environment-friendly products that will not only naturally make your hair beautiful but also safeguard the health of the planet. In response to the growing awareness on the harmful effects of common chemical shampoo ingredients, natural shampoos shave been created to cater to the needs of people who do not want to take the risks of using potentially hazardous shampoo products.

Shampoo formulas are all about stripping the oils, dirt, dandruff and skin particles that naturally build up in the hair. It supports regular cleansing of hair against environmental pollutants and contaminant particles, which might clog the pores and cause dull hair texture. However, most commercial shampoo products are heavily laden with chemicals that wash off oil and unwanted dirt to the point that they already rip off the hair with its natural protective oil film. Stripping out so much from the hair makes it unmanageable. This explains why people who use common shampoos are prone to suffering bad hair days.

Common shampoo formulations use ingredients that are derivatives of crude oil. Using them basically means regularly exposing yourself to a cocktail of toxic substances that do not only pose health risks but also harm the environment. Since most consumers look for shampoo that will give more suds and more fragrance, shampoo brands are compelled to use such ingredients to make the product appealing to the market.

The truth is that most of the shampoos you find displayed in your local grocery stores and pharmacies are filled with toxic and synthetic ingredients since these ingredients are cheaper to use than natural and organic ingredients. What people do not know is that many of these ingredients have carcinogenic and have other properties that may impair health. Apparently, shampoo brands and manufacturers get away with using such ingredients since the Food and Drug Administration seems to be lenient in regulating the standards of personal care products like shampoo. As a result, there is little protection given to the part of the consumers when it comes to toxic shampoo formulations.

Natural shampoo products use ingredients like jojoba oil, shea butter, coconut milk, olive oil, sunflower extract, sweet almond fruit extract, hazel leaf extract and other plant derived substances to give you gentle and safe hair cleansing and conditioning formulations. Using natural ingredients, these products more effectively leave the hair clean and smelling neutrally fragrant. Instead of stripping so much from your hair, they seal in the moisture in each hair strand, leaving you with bouncy and shiny locks. Since they do not have the rough effects of chemical-laden shampoos, they support hair growth.

Thankfully, there are companies and groups that manufacture and distribute natural shampoo and organic shampoo products. This is to provide a more conscientious alternative to toxic shampoo products. Although natural shampoos usually have fewer suds than regular shampoo products, they are gentle on the hair and scalp, which make them more effective in maintaining healthy strands and locks.

Hence, stepping into the shower using all natural shampoo will sure give you a more luxurious and satisfying bathing experience knowing that you take care of your hair with nothing but the gentlest and environment-friendly product out there.

Dont shampoo your hair in the bath...always do it in the shower

Image via Wikipedia

There are many factors that contribute to lifeless and unmanageable hair. Dull and dry hair may result from using harsh shampoos. You need to use the right shampoo that suits the needs of your dry, normal, oily or coloured hair. Poor hair may also be a sign of poor health. It could result from malnutrition, taking certain medications or an illness. Soft, silky and bouncy hair never happens overnight but there are certain tricks that you can do to keep that. For one thing, you must start washing your hair in the shower and not in the bath.

Salon experts recommend that the best way of washing your hair at home is by doing in while standing in the shower. Using a shower attachment is over the taps of your bath is also a good alternative. This should help saturate your hair with water before applying the shampoo. Simply place your head under the shower and massage your hair until it is entirely wet. This way, you get a preliminary washing action for all accumulated dirt and environmental residue on your hair and scalp. Hence, washing your hair under the shower will minimize the need to use more shampoo to thoroughly clean your hair. Minimal consumption of shampoo means minimal waste on your household drain. After lathering your hair with shampoo, rinse them away under the shower rose. Work with your fingers in letting the water completely run through each strand and flushing out dirt and suds. Then, squeeze water out of your hair by doing a wringing motion.

Washing your hair in the shower is also better than washing it in the bath because water temperature is more manageable with showers. There are electronic attachments that you can use to regular the temperature of the water flowing out of the showers. After cleaning your hair and washing off shampoo with warm water, one trick you can do to ensure more manageable hair is by blasting your hair and scalp with cold water. The cold temperature should effectively close the follicle of your hair, making it less dry and naturally shiny. Use cold water, as cold as you can comfortably stand.

Ifollicle Dont shampoo your hair in the bath...always do it in the showerf you want to be relieved of the need to constantly use conditioners and leave on hair products to keep or maintain your shiny locks, washing your hair in the shower gives it a great cold water rinse. While it minimizes the follicles of the hair, cold shower blast also minimizes the molecules that make up the hair. This way, it also makes it easier for you to wash out broken off hair, keeping your hair tangle-free. Also, standing in 30 seconds of cold water rinse helps seal the cuticles in the hair shaft. This allows your hair to naturally tramp moisture without the need for commercial hair cuticle coat and other hair leave-on or products.

With a careful and ingenious regiment of washing your hair under the shower, you get to naturally achieve softer and silkier hair. If you are in the habit of frequently styling your hair, this shampooing trick should help you keep your hair healthy and naturally shiny without the need for expensive and potentially toxic hair nourishing products. With a rose shower, cold tap and a good natural shampoo product, your bad hair days will be things of the past.

Advantages of Using Organic Dog Shampoo

It seems to go without saying that people who tend to be very planet conscience are also big animal lovers. Why wouldn’t they be? Planetary conservation is dependent on the survival of all animal species, not just the human one.

In conjunction with this green living ideology, these loving pet parents should start to think in term of purchasing eco friendly products for their animals, especially dogs.

While cats have their own cleaning system, namely themselves, dogs will need more care to maintain their skin and coats. For this reason, earth conscious dog owners should start buying organic dog shampoo as well as eco friendly toys and treats

Now, before you shrug and say that your animal has been doing just find without such products, you need to consider the very real and multifaceted advantages if using an organic dog shampoo.

Cruelty free

A manufacturer of an organic product for dogs is going to take great pains to ensure that the product is cruelty free. This is not only ethically sound, it makes good business sense.

How stupid would it be to market an item made for an eco friendly, potentially Vegan customer base knowing that animals were harmed during product testing?

That said, just because a dog shampoo states it is organic, doesn’t make it so. Check the ingredients to see if this is indeed the case. If the company is shown to place more chemical based ingredients on their shampoo, it isn’t all natural and shouldn’t be used.

When in doubt, do research on the company in question. If the merchandise is truly organically grown, more than likely it will in turn, be cruelty free.

Absence of chemicals, dyes and irritants

Many pet owners who use over the counter dog shampoos find that their dogs tend to scratch a lot. This is because most common shampoos contain irritants and ingredients that can make your dogs skin very dry.

In turn, the dog scratches, tearing out their hair and harming their coat.

Canines may even have the misfortune of developing a rash that makes their hair fall out in patches.

Caring owners will take their dog to a vet, but medicine will be ineffective if the allergic reaction is due to harsh chemicals from mainstream shampoo.

All natural pet shampoos formulated for dogs rarely have these side effects. This is because organic materials haven’t been subjected to synthetic pesticides or the potent carcinogenic materials found in most commercial fertilizers.

This will reduce the likelihood of allergies or rashes associated with the chemicals commonly found in most grooming products.

Safe for human caregivers and the environment

Synthetic elements in regular dog shampoos can be extremely harmful to the pet parent as well as to their dog.

One recent study links pyrenthrins, a substance found in most dog shampoos, with autism. The jury is still out, but research has show that women who were pregnant and used products with pyrenthrins in them were more likely to have a child with autism than woman who did not.

Also, since human skin is less resistant to irritants than the skin of a dog, they are more likely to be harmed by dangerous chemicals far more rapidly.

Using organic dog shampoo with biodegradable materials eliminates the potential harm to human beings and doggies and observes conservation efforts simultaneously.

Final word

Interested consumers will be able to easily locate organic dog shampoo at a health food supermarket or via an online, eco friendly pet store.

Just think, the purchase of an all natural shampoo will protect your treasured pet’s coat and make his skin healthy. This fact alone will make the hunt for an organic grooming product all the more worthwhile!

Homemade Shampoos

Natural shampoo and conditioner is a refreshing change from store-bought shampoo and conditioner that contains unfamiliar ingredients, dyes, and perfumes. Commercial shampoo and conditioner may contain ingredients such as formaldehyde, glycols, ammonia, and cresol. Eggs are primarily known for its protein content. The rich sources of protein content in egg makes it a very good hair conditioner. Beat 2 egg yolk in a glass of hot water. Soak hair in the solution and leave it for an hour. Wash your hairs with warm water. To make Nana’s egg shampoo, take 1 large egg separated and 3 Tbsp castile soap. Then in a bowl, beat egg white until foamy. Blend in yolk followed by the castile soap. Wet hair with warm water. Massage half the egg shampoo into scalp. Rinse well then massage remaining shampoo into scalp. Leave on hair about 1 min. Rinse thoroughly with warm water. Avoid shampoos that include olefin sulfate, lauramide DEA, cocamide DEA, sodium lauryl sulfate, sodium laureth sulfate, sodium C14-16 or cocamidopropyl betaine, as they tend to be too harsh.

A good base for natural shampoo is a mild herbal shampoo, which can be found in many health-food stores. Buy a soap-based shampoo made with coconut, soy, olive or palm-kernel oil. Another good choice is a herbal baby shampoo. Take 100 grams of dried Embellic myrobalan and soap nut. Mix it with 1 liter of water and soak it for 24 hours. After the ingredients are soaked properly, boil it and allow it to cool. Strain the solution and use it as a shampoo. This homemade herbal shampoo make your hair silky and shiny. Tips for Choosing a Dog Shampoo

Just like the type of shampoo that people use can differ from person-to-person, the same applies to dogs. Why? Well, it is because dogs have different skin types just like human skin types differ from each other. Using the wrong shampoo can cause skin irritation and this can cause quite a bit of confusion when trying to find the right shampoo. And do not think that using a human shampoo on a dog is safe because human shampoo does not have the same acidic pH that a dog shampoo does. The dog can experience skin irritation because the human shampoo has a pH that is lower than what the dog’s skin needs.

So here are some steps to take when choosing a dog shampoo that is appropriate for your beloved dog:

- Look at your dog’s skin and try to determine his or her skin type. If you notice any skin flaking, then your dog most likely has dry skin. This means it is fair to say that your dog has oily skin if you notice there is any type of oil residue when you rub your fingers through your dog’s fur or their fur tends to become oily. It is good to separate the fur since oil may not be visible on the surface, especially in long-haired dogs. If neither one of these issues exist, then it is safe to say your dog has normal skin. If you are not sure, it never fails to ask the vet.

- The shampoo that is chosen should be an all natural shampoo that is specific to the skin type that your dog has. If a majority of the ingredients on the label is hard to pronounce, then it is not an all natural shampoo. This means that it is chalk full of synthetic ingredients.

- If your dog has an issue with fleas and ticks, then an all natural dog shampoo that is designed to eliminate fleas and ticks should be your choice. However, using such a shampoo means that it is important to avoid getting it in the dog’s eyes and mouth because it can be harmful.

- If your dog scratches a lot, it is a good idea to see the vet because this could be indicative of a skin condition that may need another type of attention. Some dog shampoos can irritate a skin condition. Don’t discount the issue as simply being dry skin. If the dog doesn’t have a skin condition, a shampoo containing Aloe Vera should make your pup feel better and scratch less. If the issue is more severe, a medicated shampoo may be needed.

- Do not choose a shampoo that is heavily scented. The scents can irritate a dog’s skin. You know that some sort of extra ingredient has to be placed into the shampoo and some dogs may not be as tolerant as others when it comes to these ingredients. That is why it is a good idea to play it safe and get a lightly scented shampoo. Your dog will also smell pleasant instead of smelling like he or she just left a beauty salon full of chemicals.

Following these steps means that you can acquire a dog shampoo that is specific to your dog’s skin type. Such a shampoo should not irritate the skin. Just because a dog is an animal doesn’t mean that the dog can tolerate chemicals because skin comes in different types no matter the species. So be vigilant and ask your vet if you have any questions about your dog’s skin and what shampoos you should use.
